A Woman’s Place

Description: Society and women’s place within it has transformed dramatically over the past 120 years. The exhibit features materials from the City’s Corporate Records, Archives that illustrate some of those changes. The exhibit is open from 6 am to 6pm each day.



Audiovisual Archives Workshop

October 19.2018

​The goal of this one-day workshop is to introduce basic A/V needs for archives. In the morning, workshop participants will learn to identify different media and formats and understand the differences between media types. Participants will have the opportunity to learn proper handling techniques for different media. The workshop will go over metadata for AV as well as ideal storage for preservation. In the afternoon, participants will be shown how to perform basic assessment of materials, including signs to look for, impact of different levels of deterioration, and what to do next. The workshop will conclude by discussing approaches to AV digitization, being realistic about digitization expectations, and digitization considerations, whether your archives is looking for a vendor or looking to establish in-house AV digitization.
