Alpine Club of Canada sous-fonds. -- 1906-1995. -- ca.32 m of textual records. -- ca.3000 photographs. -- Sous-fonds contains the largest portion of the records in the fonds. It is comprised of three series: A. Administrative records; B. Section records; C. Hut, clubhouse and summit records. Administrative records series consists of three sub-series: 1. ADMINISTRATIVE RECORDS, 1906-1949; 2. Administrative records, 1950-1979; 3. Administrative records, 1980-1994. -- Constitutes Sous-fonds I. of the Alpine Club of Canada fonds. |

McCoubrey, 1905-1955, 32 cm; F. C. Bell, 1926-1928, 5 cm; T. B. Moffat, 1928-1930, 9 cm; H. E. Sampson, 1930-1932, 6 cm; A. S. Sibbald, 1934-1938, 9 cm; Eric C. Brooks, 1937-1958, ca.73 cm; C. G. Climbing records pertaining to various camps, climbs and expeditions, 1919-1970, 36.5 cm; 2. Camp records, 1906- 1963, 33 cm. (primarily camp registers, 1931-1962, 17 volumes, and attendance records, 1948-1957, 10 volumes); 3. Mountain warfare training camp records, 1942-1944, ca.12 cm.; 4. Miscellaneous items, including camp rhymes, baggage tags, pamphlets, 6 items. -- File descriptions available.

Expedition records. -- 1887-1934; predominant 1923-1926. -- ca.34 cm of textual records. -- ca.670 photographs : prints, negatives, transparencies, albums. -- Sub-sub-series consists of: i. Mount Logan Expedition (1925) records, 1923- 1926, ca.33 cm of textual records and ca.580 photographs. Includes Director's papers, correspondence, financial records, reports, speeches, publicity, telegrams, newsclippings and photographs. Photographs pertain to site, surveys and operations and include a lantern slide set of 231 transparencies accompanied by inventory. Photographs were produced mainly by H. F. Lambart; also some by A. H. MacCarthy. ii. Other expeditions, 1912- 1934. Includes photographs and a some papers pertaining to Strathcona Park Expedition, 1912; glacier research expedition, 1931; and Mount Waddington Expedition, 1934. -- File descriptions available. -- Additional Mount Logan Expedition (1925) records are found in the H. F. Lambart papers and photographs and in the W. W. Foster photographs (both in Sous-fonds III. Personal papers and photographs). Includes plans for A. O. Wheeler Hut, Conrad Kain Hut and Stanley Mitchell Hut. -- File descriptions available. -- Further accruals are expected. -- Hut registers are located in Series I.C. M200 / I.A.1.i. Publications records. -- 1907-1926. -- ca.25 cm of textual records : include oversize. -- Sub-sub-series pertains primarily to the Canadian Alpine Journal. Included are mock-up pages for 1910 to 1926 issues, including original maps and photographs; and CAJ index for eight volumes, 1907-1914. Other items are songsheets and books titled Songs of Canadian Climbers and Songs of the Mountaineers, ca.1915-ca.1925, 14 items. -- File descriptions available.
M200 / I.A.1.j. V14 / I.A.1.j. Club photographs. -- 1890-1974. -- ca.1400 photographs : transparencies, prints, albums. -- 1 textual record. -- Sub-sub-series consists of four groups. i. ACC lantern slide collection, n.d., 730 transparencies, accompanied by catalogue; set was used for lecture purposes and was available to members on loan. ii. Display photographs, 1890-1958, ca.400 prints. Photographs were displayed in huts, clubhouses and other locations. Subjects include mountain peaks, landscapes and scenery, both regional and international; mountaineering and alpine recreation; camps and expeditions; flora and fauna; clubhouse views; and portraits of mountaineers, alpine club members, executive officers and prominent personalities. Included are ca.180 photographs which were submitted to the ACC though various photographic competitions. iii. Competition photographs, ca.1910-1974, ca.130 prints and 11 albums (ca.130 prints). Includes work by numerous individuals and sections, including Vancouver Section and Calgary Section. iv. Miscellaneous club photographs, 1906, 1958?, 9 items. -- File descriptions available. -- Photographs by professional photographers such as Byron Harmon, Harry Pollard and Elliott Barnes in Sous-fonds III. Personal papers and photographs may also be club photographs produced on behalf of the club.
