ADMINISTRATIVE RECORDS, 1950-1979

Alpine Club of Canada sous-fonds. -- 1906-1995. -- ca.32 m of textual records. -- ca.3000 photographs. -- Sous-fonds contains the largest portion of the records in the fonds.  It is comprised of three series:  A. Administrative records; B. Section records; C. Hut, clubhouse and summit records.  Administrative records series consists of three sub-series:  1. Administrative records, 1906-1949;  2. ADMINISTRATIVE RECORDS, 1950-1979;  3. Administrative records, 1980-1994. -- Constitutes Sous-fonds I. of the Alpine Club of Canada fonds.

Executive, officer and Board of Management records. -- 1953-1982. -- ca.160 cm and 22 files of textual records. -- Sub-sub-series consists of executive and officer papers of H. A. V. Green, 1960-1965; Phil Dowling, 1960-1973; Roger Neave, 1964-1969; David R. Fisher, 1964-1972; R. C. Hind, 1965-1967; S. Merler, 1966-1968; E. M. Mills, 1966-1969; John A. Wheeler, ca.1974-ca.1979. Also includes executive, management committee and Board of Management minutes, correspondence and other records, 1953-1982. --  File descriptions available.

General and financial records. -- 1909-1985; predominant 1960-1982. -- ca.106 cm, ca.200 files and 31 textual records. -- Sub-sub-series consists of eight groups of records: i. Minutes and correspondence; ii. Financial; iii. Office, committee and personnel; iv. Sections; v. Membership; vi. Policy; vii. Publicity; viii. Other/miscellaneous. The largest group is financial records. --  File descriptions available. 

Records of camps, climbs, treks and courses. -- 1916-1984; predominant 1959-1984. -- ca.28 cm, ca.280 files and 9 textual records. -- ca.200 photographs : prints, negatives, transparencies. -- Sub-sub-series consists mainly of mountaineering, alpine climbing and ski camp files; also climbing sheets, committee records, records pertaining to treks and training courses, camp registers and other records. --  File descriptions available.

Expedition records. -- 1925-1984; predominant 1969-1984. -- ca.105 cm and ca.114 files of textual records. -- ca.175 photographs : prints, negative, transparencies, album. -- Sub-sub-series consists of three groups: i. Committee records, 1969-1983, 5 cm and 4 files; ii. Yukon Alpine Centennial Expedition records, 1966-1971 (predominant 1966-1967), ca.100 cm of textual records and ca.125 photographs; iii. Records of other expeditions, 1925-1984, ca.110 files of textual records and ca.50 photographs. Included in this third group are files on numerous expeditions to locations in North America, South America, Asia and other locations. --  File descriptions available. -- Yukon Alpine Centennial Expedition records are also found in David R. Fisher executive and committee papers (I.A.2.a.). Small quantity (1 file) of Mount Logan Expedition (1925) records relate to expedition records in earlier sub-series (I.A.1.e.). Canadian Mount Everest Expedition (1982) records constitute Sous-fonds II of the Alpine Club of Canada fonds.

Huts and properties records. -- 1930-1982; predominant 1960-1982. -- ca.50 cm and 56 files of textual records. -- ca.500 photographs : prints, negatives, transparencies. -- Sub-sub-series consists of files on individual huts, hut proposals, budgets and other matters; hut committee records, 1950-1984, ca.60 cm.; general files. --  File descriptions available.

Clubhouse records. -- 1910-1982. -- ca.46 cm and 25 files of textual records. -- ca.60 photographs : prints, negatives, transparencies. -- Sub-sub-series consists of files pertaining to clubhouse business, revenue and finances, operations, correspondence, equipment and furniture inventories, proposals for and construction of new facility. --  File descriptions available.

Library and archives records. -- [ca.1950]-1982. -- ca.15 cm, 10 files and 3 textual records. -- Library and archives records include the records of librarian F. C. Bell, ca.1950-1971. --  File descriptions available.

Publications records. -- 1958-1984. -- 48 files, 1 cm and 2 textual records. -- 27 photographs : prints, negatives. -- Sub-sub-series pertains to Canadian Alpine Journal, Gazette, guidebooks, newsletters, brochures, bulletins and other publications. Includes information on publishing, printing, subscriptions, financing, advertising, etc. --  File descriptions available. -- Some negatives correspond to negatives in AC 421 / 451.

Photography records and photographs. -- 1937-1987. -- 16 files of textual records. -- ca.350 photographs : transparencies, prints, negatives, albums. -- Sub-sub-series consists of textual records pertaining to the photographic secretary, photographic competitions and exhibitions, and films. Photographs are competition, exhibition, brochure, lecture, club and training photographs. -- File descriptions available.

Other committee records. -- 1960-1984. -- 25 files of textual records. -- Sub-sub-series pertains to committees on glaciology, climbing status, club policy, awards, safety, conservation, summit records, accidents, nominations, ski mountaineering, scientific research, mountain management committee and Wolodarsky-Rummel scholarship awards. -- File descriptions available.

Records of other activities. -- 1970-1982. -- 13 files of textual records. -- Sub-sub-series pertains to lecture tours and exchange visits. --  File descriptions available.

Information files. -- 1955-1981. -- 35 files of textual records and printed matter. -- Sub-sub-series pertains mainly to other organizations; also, natural areas, trails, etc. --  File descriptions available.

Other records. -- 1951-1983. -- 4 files, ca.115 pages and 1 cm of textual records. -- Sub-sub-series includes miscellaneous club records and other items. --  File descriptions available.
