The ASA is a not-for-profit association supporting archives and archivists in Alberta in the collection and preservation of records for the benefit of future generations. These records are essential as they capture the living legacy of the people and stories that make Alberta home. Together with members of the archival community, we are committed to protecting Alberta’s historical record.
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to archival work for those working in the field, through lectures by subject experts, group activities, and opportunities for questions and networking. It is designed to fill the knowledge gap for those who work with archives, but have little to no formal training in the field. Participants will receive readings, templates, tools of the trade, and other resources.
ASA acknowledges that our office is located in Treaty 6 territory, the traditional land of the Dene, Métis, Salteaux, Nakoda Sioux, Cree and Blackfoot peoples. As we are a provincial organization, our work is spread throughout all of Alberta, and as such, we recognize Treaty 7 & 8 and all Indigenous, Métis and Inuit people and their lands that our work touches.
