Past Workshop: This workshop equips those working in archives with skills to implement systems and tools to digitize and manage three of the most common carrier types: audio-cassettes, VHS tapes, and optical discs.

In this workshop, learn how to prepare CSV sheets for your institution’s archival descriptions and authority records, whether you are exporting from an AtoM database or looking to map fields from your own database.

This one-day workshop provides an overview of how copyright law works and presents the copyright provisions (including relevant case law) that determine duration and ownership of copyright and the respective rights of copyright owners and users of copyrighted material (including fair dealing and the exceptions for libraries, archives, and museums).

This workshop discusses how to identify photographic processes as well as the structure, composition and format of a broad range of photographic materials. Agents of deterioration and mechanisms of deterioration are covered, as are proper storage and handling techniques for photograph collections. Ways to minimize potential damage and information loss in an emergency or disaster are also included.

This workshop aims to build public services confidence in archivists, whether they are reference veterans or are new to assisting researchers. Participants will have the opportunity to practice foundational skills, to assess real archives programs, to consider new strategies, and to plan for change in their current role/repository.
